In 2019, Illinois legislators authorized the issuance of six more licenses, and two of the new casinos are already operational. The other five casinos are in various stages of the approval process. Benefits to Illinois

The Illinois riverboat casino industry contributes greatly to Illinois' economic health and prosperity.

Since 1990, the riverboat casinos have generated over $11 billion in tax revenues for the state and local communities. In 2018 alone, the State of Illinois and local communities realized nearly $462 million dollars from riverboat gambling tax revenues.

The riverboat casino industry has also brought opportunities to individual Illinois citizens.

In 2018, casinos provided over $230 million in annual payroll and benefits to 6,200 employees.

In addition to tax revenues and local investments, Illinois casinos also donated thousands of hours and millions of dollars to charitable organizations.
